On December 10th, 17 students from area departments will graduate from the Santiam Canyon Recruit Academy.

Those agencies with students are Drakes Crossing, Gates, Sublimity, Scio, Jefferson, Aumsville, and Stayton. At the completion of the academy the students will meet the requirements for NFPA FF 1, NFPA Driver, First Responder Operations (HazMat), and Emergency Traffic Control. To be scheduled later is Basic Wildland and Medic First Responder (if they choose to attend).

Graduation is open to anyone to attend and starts at 7 PM in the Stayton Station training room. Dress uniform is encouraged for fire personnel who attend. The support of fellow firefighters to new recruits is important, remember when you completed academy and prepared to respond and train with your comrades
