Stayton Fire is Awarded a Fire Prevention & Safety Grant
Stayton Fire District was recently awarded a $26,595 ($25,266 federal share and $1,329 district share) grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The grant was submitted under the 2010 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program – Fire Prevention and Safety Grants to implement an adult fire extinguisher training program for our adult population.
The goal of the program is to reduce civilian injuries related to trying to extinguish fires and will provide hands-on interactive training with a fire extinguisher prop. This is Stayton Fire District’s first Fire Prevention and Safety Grant and we are looking forward to the opportunity to make an impact on the reduction of fire related injuries in our communities.
