Stayton Firefighters compete in Portland Stair Climb
On September 26th, Firefighters Derek Gilbert and Alan Hussey traveled to Portland to compete in the 2010 Firefighter Stairclimb Challenge/Climb for the Cure. Firefighters from around the country teamed up to climb the US Bancorp Tower in full firefighting combat gear to raise money and awareness for the fight against Cystic Fibrosis. Out of 250 firefighters, FF Hussey finished 79th with a time of 10:44, and FF Gilbert finished 38th with a time of 9:33. It was FF Hussey’s first stair climb event and he put up a great time!
