The Elkhorn Station has recently added three new members to its roster thanks to the recruiting efforts of Elkhorn Station firefighter Sandy Johnson. Patrick and Brenda Chapman recently moved back to the states from England and have taken up residence in the Elkhorn area. Tom Lemons, a long time Elkhorn resident has also signed on. All three are currently training to the non-entry firefighter level.

The fall joint Santiam Recruit Firefighter Academy is also under way and Stayton Fire District is well represented. We currently have five new members in the academy from the Stayton Station, Nick Rowling, Kyle Nielson, Alan Hussey, Brad Fief, and Ed Zeyen-Hall. The fall academy started on August 26 and runs through the first part of December with academy graduation on December 9.
