Occupant escapes house fire

Holister House Fire

Stayton Fire District responded to the 200 block of W. Hollister Street in Stayton on Thursday, February 20^th at 5:09 AM to report of residential structure fire. The sole occupant had escaped out a bathroom window prior to police and fire units arriving and was found on the front porch of the residence.
 
Crews were able to extinguish the fire in 15 minutes with 2 engines and 1 ladder truck manned by 20 volunteers, which included a crew from Sublimity.
 
The fire did about $5,000 dollars damage to the building and contents.
 
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Marion-Polk Fire Investigation Team and Stayton Police Department.
