A record 233 cars registered for this year’s event, almost 100 more then last year. Show cars filled the Stayton Fire District parking lots and even the street in front of the station. Each car entered brought a new unwrapped toy for the Toys for Joy program and some clubs and organizations brought in cars filled with toys.
Volunteer Firefighters served breakfast to over 556 people as they enjoyed looking at the huge variety of cars on display. At times the line snaked outside amongst the cars – though no one seemed to mind as they visited and enjoyed the wonderful atmosphere.
Santa arrived and visited with everyone - handing out candy canes and spreading good cheer. Overall, it was a great holiday event and raised $4,397 that will be used to purchase additional toys to fill the children’s wish lists.
The annual event was sponsored this year by Superior Tire Service in Salem, Stro’s Photography, and Stayton Volunteer Protection Co. #1 (SVPC#1) to raise funds for the SVPC#1 Toys for Joy Program.
A special thanks to everyone that made the event a huge success – you are all wonderful and your generosity is greatly appreciated.
