Career:
Chief Jay Alley began his fire service career in 1983 as an Explorer Scout member of the Stayton Fire District. When he turned 18 years of age, he joined as a volunteer firefighter where he advanced through the ranks to volunteer Division Chief. His employment during his volunteer service was with the Oregon Department of Forestry as a Forest Officer, in Fire Protection. In July of 1996, he was hired full-time as the Division Chief/Training Officer and later promoted to Assistant Chief/Training Officer. The responsibilities of this position included the day-to-day operations of the district and managing the training for personnel. On November 1, 2022, he was promoted to Fire Chief of the Stayton Fire District where he has served for 39 years.
Affiliations:
Locally Chief Alley is a member of the Marion County Fire Defense Board, Mid-Willamette Fire Instructors Association, and Marion-Polk County Fire Investigation Team.
At the state level, Chief Alley is an active member of the Oregon Fire Chiefs Association.
Education:
Chief Alley graduated from Regis High School and has his A.S. Degree in Fire Science Technology from Chemeketa Community College. Chief Alley has a number of professional certifications and his Oregon Emergency Medical Technician Basic certification.
