Stayton Fire Installs 50 Smoke Alarms

Saturday, April 23rd, we installed 50 smoke alarms in 21 different homes in the mobile home park on Golf Club Road.  The District Fire/Life Safety Team (FLST) was awarded the 50 alarms via a Smoke Alarm Install Project Grant from the Office of State Fire Marshal (OSFM).  Seven district volunteers, made up of firefighters, support members and rehab team members, and one staff member broke up into teams and canvased the whole park.

The great weather made it a perfect day for the project and we were able to increase not only the number of working smoke alarms but also the total number of alarms in several of the homes.  OSFM and Stayton Fire District recommends that all homes have a working smoke alarm on every level, in every bedroom, and outside each sleeping area.

The District FLST would like to thank everyone that helped make the project possible, including our volunteers, the residents, and OSFM.  Together we can make a difference!
